Because even though I love you, I still think of others…。黄亚男丧偶后携三子艰难度日，经介绍嫁丁伟强。婚后，三子送饭时撞见丁伟强与小三私会，被其推下悬崖。丁伟强谎称孩子失足，带小三离开。多年后，未死的大儿子大宝以霸总身份归来，识破丁伟强杀妻骗保阴谋，救下被下药的黄亚男，母子俩继而寻二宝与小月儿。。本片乃是编导对一起发生在70年代早期乌拉圭的真实事件的个人诠释。一个美国AID官员（他们通常的任务是作为先遣部队前往目标国家训练当地警察人员如何镇压暴乱）遭当地游击队绑架并谋杀。经过调查发现，他原来是美国政府干涉当地内政的特派人员，经游击队严刑逼供仍不吐实，于是加以杀害，在这条主线之外，影片也描写了左翼游击队和乌拉圭政府的对抗。。
