1946年春天，为裁决日本战犯而举行「东京审判」，十一个战胜国的法官齐聚东京帝国饭店。审判的焦点是，随着纽伦堡审判而诞生的「战争罪」。在此之前在《国际法》上认为合法的「战争」这一行为，第一次被认定为犯罪行为，并且追究国家指导者的责任。对于「战争罪」这一说法，辩护方认为这是事后法而不予承认。而在法庭上，各法官们的意见也对立起来。最初想短期内解决的审判，却显现出长期化、混沌化的样子。法庭背后的攻防中，驻留日本的法官们的私人活动、周围人的意见卷入其中。1948年秋，长达两年半的审判，十一个大法官最终做出了判决。在决定被告生与死的瞬间，人类最根源的问题「人类是否可以裁决战争」也得出了一个最终的答案。。Set in present day New Delhi, Gulmohar tracks the final four days, leading up to Holi, of the Batra family as they pack their belongings to move out of their thirty-four year old family home.
