一条地下运毒链条牵扯出帮派小头目老狗（姜武饰）、地头蛇三哥（包贝尔饰）等人所在的地方帮派的交易网。在老狗管理的狗市里，愣头青东子（刘奕铁饰）阴差阳错地卷入这场漩涡中，并获得老狗赏识成为其最心腹的小弟。帮派老大葛爷的离奇暴毙，让权力真空引发惨烈厮杀，几大狠人血拼上位，神秘势力暗中操盘，然而东子的身份也似乎并不简单。在情谊和生死面前，人性赌局的考验也让事态变得越来越扑朔迷离。。工人出身的林母（彭玉 饰）饱经沧桑，含辛茹苦，操劳了大辈子将三个儿子拉扯大。本应含饴弄孙、颐养天年的老人，却似乎无法放下肩上的重担，儿子们的生活依然是她最大的挂念。长子林国栋（李崇霄 饰）在美国打拼，也因此和母亲最为喜爱的大儿媳雅娟离婚，金融海啸则将他的生活逼入困境；次子林国梁（邵峰 饰）是某超市的小领导，奸佞狡诈、自私自利的他为了患病的女儿殚精竭虑，甚至不愿照看老母亲；小儿子国强（范雷 饰）一名普通的的哥，他善良懦弱，却诚实孝顺，好不容易找到来自东北农村的老婆陈金巧，却从一开始就遭到母亲的强烈反对。 老林家的风波就这样没完没了，搅扰着每一个人的生活与人生……。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
